New crew on Oceans of Hope

High waves

Blog Day 4 and 5

Last Wednesday we went on an epic sailing journey from Smögen towards an anchor bay near Lysekil. Although the wind wasn’t very extreme the waves were very high🌊! We needed a reef in the mainsail and when the lady team with Mette, Dorit, Kristen and Therese were hoisting the sail a big wave almost flushed them off the deck. Luckily they were all wearing safety lines. After 8 hours of adventurous sailing we reached our destination, an idyllic sheltered bay. We had a culinary diner of pasta pesto made by Barbera and Karin 😉.

Frederik picked up Tilde, a new crew member. Next morning we had a lovely swim and some went for a hike. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to lovely Susan because she disembarked at Lysekil and we welcomed Jacob and Carsten as new members of the MS crew.

New sailing adventure

We went on a new sail adventure to a beautiful small island where the harbor was protected by the island itself. The sailing conditions were similar as the day before. Everyone who wanted had a turn stirring the boat. Even in these rough conditions Tilde and Theresa managed to whip up a really fantastic mushroom risotto. We ended our day with a well deserved drink at sunset at Åstol’s rökeri.

Compliments to the fantastic crew who navigated us to through these rough waters!

Today we have to wait until it’s safe to get out, because there are very strong winds and it’s raining cats and dogs right now!!
